About Salt Lake City Bloggers Live

Hello and welcome! This site is the official home (such as it is) of SLC Bloggers Live.

What on earth does that mean?

Simply put, a group of bloggers from the Salt Lake and surrounding area (including the greater Tooele/Erda metroplex) get together every month or so and do readings. Generally, each reader gets between 5-10 minutes to take the stage and dazzle the rest of us with their wit and profundity. If you have neither wit nor profundity, we can provide some for you at the door.

Here are the Rules for SLC Bloggers Live

  1. If it's your first night at SLCBL, you have to fight. Wait, that's totally wrong. Let me start again.

Here are the "real" rules for SLC Bloggers Live:

  1. SLCBL is free to join. We don't charge anything to join and you are under no obligation to do anything. The only real requirement is that you must be an "active" blogger. Though technically, if you wanted to read entries from your journal from your junior high school years, that would probably also be awesome.
  2. We aren't going to censor what you read. But if your Mom or Great Aunt is in the audience, you might want to keep it clean.
  3. Try and keep it under 10 minutes. (Practice in front of a mirror with a timer)
  4. Though SLCBL is free, the venue where we read may charge a small cover charge. Or, this being UT, you may have to deal with the crazy "members-only" rules around here, should we do a reading at a bar, tavern, etc. If we do it at my house, do not let my kids try and charge you a fee to enter.
  5. Sign up for a slot at least two weeks in advance. And let us know as soon as possible if you have to cancel or postpone. We make some rather ginchy programs and we have to do those a bit in advance.
  6. You do not have to be a blogger or writer to come listen. Though you do have to clap and make "woo-hoo" noises when readers are done.
